Eczema and milk thoughts

DD 2 has eczema on her wrists and where her nappy rubs, we have hydrocortisone and dermol and have been told she'll prob grow out of it. I still breastfeed her and she has a lot of feeds for her age, she also loves dairy stuff to eat, as do I. After getting really down about her scratching etc and not really being someone who is happy to wait for her to grow out of it I thought I'd try and work out if its dairy that is causing her a problem as lots of people (most of whom are vegan though!) are telling me that is prob what it is! I have switched her to goats milk and cheese for the last week as I prefer the idea of a natural milk than soya for example.

I've not noticed much difference yet but I have stayed with cows milk for myself. Any advice on where to go from here? Her skin is bad at the mo as it was before I started the change from milk to goats. Any advice on how long to give it, should I do it as well as she is breasfed, I can't stomach the goats milk tbh. My GP is no help, can't really afford private appt, can anyone give me any advice?

Hi mamabear thanks for all that info really helpful to me
I'm spending too much time crying rather than enjoying my beautiful baby girl
Im sure there is someb link to dairy as she came out in such a rash after a drop of formula and the the prescribed formula so going to keep going wvith the dairy free until we get the results - good to know it took 3 months to see a difference thanks

Don't really like that there's a sales rep on this thread !

DS1 only developed eczema at 18 months, so couldn't have been his diet. We did however have RAST tests done and apparently he is not allergic to anything, so I am stumped! Despite this, I do give him Rice Milk, which is enriched with calcium (usually in the health food as opposed to longlife milk aisle) as i've noticed when he does have dairy, his skin does flare up

I have been using the hemp cream from The Body Shop, which has been quite good and I find that a lot of the creams he has been prescribed actually seem to dry out his skin

I find in the winter his skin is especially bad and we haven't had a decent night's sleep since December

Nothing I can advise on, just that its good to know you/your little one isnt the only one struggling, just hope they grow out of it, poor things

We finally got the results from Rast tests she's allergic to dairy, eggs and wheat
Having cut dairy out of my diet 6 weeks ago her skin is soooooo much better not clear but at the moment no bandages or steroids ( touch wood !) don't think she'll be 'cured' by diet but definately better

Hi just checking on you and I'm glad you got the information and that she's better, well done for working it out earlier. Is she tolerating wheat or have they advised to remove that completely too?
We are dairy and egg free and find it not too bad now having got used to it.

I had the same with two of my kids. Both were on goats milk exclusively until 5 and one still is at 6. I learnt the hard way that you have to read food labels as loads of food has milk or milk products in them and they were just aggravating the itching and irritation. At one point one of them was off gluten too as they exhibited IBS at the same time.
