Not sure whether this shoudl go in breast feeding topic or not....

I had a reaction to a cheap supermarket own brand lager the other night.....my tongue and mouth swelled up and my tongue is raw. I took a small dose of piriton and it stabilised.

DS2 is 10 months and breast fed and the next day, his eczema (which had really calmed dow abotu 6 weeks ago), really flared up again.

Ingredients: water, barley, wheat malt, maize, caramel colouring, hops.

I don't get reactions to any other wheat products, although occasionally do with tomatoes and oranges.

Could ds2 be sensitive to this too and have had a reaction through my milk?

Why would it happen with this lager and not others......

Any info, or reference to a website would be most useful

It is possible for them to react through your breast milk. My ds came out with dermatitis/eczema and was found to be me eating things he was allergic to (found out later through skin tests). Could easily be the wheat malt or perhaps the caramel colouring. Does his eczema flare up when you eat more wheat?? Your own reaction sounds a little worrying and I would suggest you have yourself tested. Perhaps you could ring manufacturer and find out a little more about the ingredients such as the ingredients in caramel colouring etc. Until you find the cause you are at risk of much more serious reaction.
