Eggless and Dairyless Fairy Cakes

Hello. I don't have a child with allergies myself but my daughter (aged 5 in Reception) has a friend who is allergic to dairy, eggs and nuts. I'm reasonably clued up on the nut thing as I have a sister who's nut-allergic but not so good on the other stuff. Anyway, DD is having a birthday party soon and I would like to make tiny fairy cakes in pretty cases. Is there an egg and dairy free recipe that I could use for this? I would ideally like something that all the children will enjoy so that the mum of the allergic child can relax a bit. Also, any other good ideas for non-allergic party food gratefully welcomed. Also a biscuit recipe that would be good for decorating with sprinkles and icing would be nice.

Many thanks.

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU Thanks to all you exceptionally helpful ladies. In the end I made the blueberry and banana loaf with carefully vetted icing/Christmas tree sprinkles and the flapjacks with edible glitter on top and chopped dried apricots (also similarly vetted). Did ham, marmite, salt beef, tuna, jam and cheese sarnies, with the cheese ones on a separate plate. Ham ones also on separate plate as there was a Muslim child among the guests as well. Also beef sausages, carrot sticks, cucumber, pineapple, satsumas etc. Was v grateful by the time I got to the fruit what with the challenges of keeping everything potentially allergenic and/or pork-containing separate from both each other and everything else!!

The allergic child's mum supplied a packet of plain biscuits (Rich Tea ones from Tesco) which have no egg or dairy and the girls all happily covered biscuits and themselves in icing and sprinkles after tea.

I couldn't have done it without you, so thank you very much indeed. You're all v kind.

That blueberry loaf is absolutely delicious and I'd heartily recommend it as a birthday cake option to anyone else in the future. The flapjacks were appropriately gooey and we still have quite a lot left for lunches this week. Did party bags with no pork gelatine for Muslim child and no allergens for allergic child so feeling quite pleased all round with myself!

Thanks again. I am v grateful.

Just wanted to add for anyone who is interested I have just made some chocolate chip shortbread stars with gluten/wheat free flour/dairy free margarine and moo-free chocolate chips for my little boys nursery.

so: gluten/wheat/nut/dairy/egg free - I think they have turned out ok - good where there are a number of allergies and quite easy to make
