Hi everyone!
I need some advice on infacol, my son cried for about half an hour the other day and it was a pain cry, my mother in law suggested it was trapped wind and i should use some infacol.
So i brought some yesterday and my son has been having it before his feeds all day today, but he has been being sick all day today, is this normal for this to happen or do you think he might have an allergy to it?
Please help, first time mum here and so confused. Confused
Thank you!

Extremely unlikely, I think, that there is anything in the Infacol your DS could be allergic to. How old is he?
As far as I can remember, it's not unusual for Infacol to make babies posset a bit more than usual, but I can't remember the reason why. In any case, the message is that it's a harmless substance, although opinions are divided on whether it works or not.
Are you breastfeeding exclusively, or have you introduced formula?

How old is your baby?

As far as I remember, there aren't any ingredients in Infacol which are likely to cause an allergic reaction - but of course you can be allergic to virtually anything... I used Infacol for a few weeks when my son was tiny and looking back I think the orange oil used as flavouring did probably make his eczema worse.

Infacol contains simeticone, which is supposed to work by bringing together all the little bubbles of trapped air in the stomach into big bubbles which can be burped up more easily. The Infacol website claims it is 'clinically proven', but doesn't quote any research. On my breastfeeding support training I was told that although some mums do swear by Infacol, gripe water etc. there is not any very good evidence that these things are effective.

You can help to relieve trapped wind by holding your baby more upright during and after feeds. How are you feeding? (bottle-fed babies are more likely to swallow air during feeds; if you are breastfeeding then it might be that you have fast let-down/milk-flow, or that the 'latch' could be improved so that baby doesn't swallow any air).

Hope your baby is better today.
