I just took dd2 to the doctor and he said that I should try to give her some cheese now- her last blood test was class 0/1. I did and heureka!! Nothing! No rash, no belly ache, just a big smile and request for more. Could this really be it?

I have to cry a bit. Grin

Congratulations! Enjoy this moment for the rest of your lives

That's fantastic. Good for your dd.

That's so cool Grin

Hooray, I had a dear friend at university who was allergic to dairy. He couldn't resist the odd pizza, despite knowing he'd feel wheezy the next day. He said he also used to get very odd looks for putting orange juice on his cereal.

Congratulations - fantastic news Grin

Thank you! Today I will tempt fate and give her a tiny slice of cheese pizza. Milk I don't dare yet, but if she does okay with the pizza I might try a spoon of yogurt tomorrow. (In my joy I bought BUTTER for the first time in years! Can you imagine?)

She went from being allergic to soy, eggs, milk, peas, tomatoes, fish, and all nuts to just peas and nuts. I'm so happy. :)))

Brilliant. That's great Grin and thank you for sharing, it's good to keep hopeful that one day it might be one of my dds. It's a good news day on here!!

Comma2 · 18/11/2011 20:36

Yes, hopeful is the thing. It seems pretty dire at times, doesn't it.

But all is well with dd, had her pizza (2 tiny slices, she liked it so much) and later a piece of bread with butter and no reaction. Tonight she'll have anpther little slice....am I doing this right? Not sure how much to give her, I don't want to overload the system.

That's fabulous!! Gives us all hope!

trixymalixy · 18/11/2011 21:38

But yes, take it easy. I think it would be a good idea to give her a few days with no dairy as I think there can be a build up effect with reactions.

Comma2 · 19/11/2011 16:39

Oh, ok. Will nix the dairy for the rest of the day and a couple more days...have to google info on this. The ped said to increase her milk by 1 oz every day, but that seems like a lot.

comma that's such good news. Keep letting us know how it's going.Smile

Comma2 · 19/11/2011 21:07

Thank you! :)

This morning I gave her a splash of milk over her cereal and she was a bit reddish around the chin, but it's hard to say...very fair skin, migh thave been anything. I think I will put her on milk in baked goods only until we see her proper allergist in December...I don't want to do any damage and there's nothing much on the web on how to do this.

It's so cute when I ask her to show me her face after she's had dairy. She'll press her eyes shut hard and opens her big mouth as wide as she can and wiggles her tongue in what I'd have to call a true effort. I can't actually check her chin and cheeks very well that way, but otherwise it looks great. Grin

Yesyes, milk is def too much- today she got another splash on her cereal (too lazy to open soy milk) and had red specks all over her chin and cheeks so I gave her some med.

So. Milk is too much, cheese and baked seems ok. I think I read somewhere that cheese is easier for them...will keep it all to a minimum now. I guess I don't know then if she's made progress at all, since her reaction to milk seems the same as always and the cheese I simply never tried. Hmmhmmm. Hm.

Dd can have small amounts of cheese and milk in baked products the dietition i saw today said that is normal and on the way to her growing out of it. She said that dc can sometimes accept small amounts as their body starts to allow it. She said not to rush it tho and wait a couple of months after a reaction before trying again, but to carry on giving her what she didn't react to in the most recent challange. So in your case butter, cheese and pizza!

Sorry very long winded way of saying that but cant think of another way of putting it!

Comma2 · 21/11/2011 17:50

Oooh, thank you for that, Addictediam!! That's good to hear and sounds right, and it's nice to have somebody go through the same thing!
