don't know but I'd be ecstatic!

did they say you can start feeding him milk?

have they double checked the results weren't mixed up with someone else's

colditz · 21/12/2005 23:54

Maybe he was allergic then. but having avoided the allergens, has grown out of it. I'm sure you can grow out of an egg allergy.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 23:55

you can grow out of allergies. i'd be celebrating if we were allergy free.

bobbybobbobbingalong · 22/12/2005 00:13

I think you should celebrate the fact that avoidance has resulted in theoretically getting better. Dairy is usually outgrown by 13 months so that would be right.

The only way you will know is by introducing it - but go slow. Cooked dairy first maybe?

My ds tested positive to milk at 7 months and again at 14 months. He is now 2yr 3mths and tested negative to cows milk 4 weeks ago. He had been coping with a little cheese or yoghurt every other day until then. We changed to cows milk after testing and slowly his eczema flared up. Nothing huge but enough to make him scratch a little. We have gone back to soya milk but kept cows milk yoghurt and cheese and his skin is lovely again. Try things slowly and see how he goes.

good to hear all your positive comments, i didnt they could outgrow them this young, hope its true as its been an awful 1st year for him. i posted this message because id read on the allergy posts that the RAST were not conclusive unless you had the bad food in you so just checking with you all that, that might not be true. thanks

I'd celebrate - cautiously, as the tests aren't 100% reliable. He's probably outgrown his allergies as his gut has developed. But as I've met people whose kids test negative then have serious reactions I'd go cautiously and try either cheese, well cooked egg yolk or live yoghurt first. If he tolerates all those you can then have a major celebration. Best to keep away from chocolate/ ice cream, though, unless they are the nut free varieties (galaxy, milky bar, aero, kitkat, vienetta).

cheers tatt, i thought i should not get too overexcited yet. im gonna wait till after xmas and try something dairy, dont wanna ruin xmas if he reacts to something new. thanks.x

oops - realised it might sound ike those are brands of ice cream that are OK and they aren't. Galaxy/ milky bar/ aero chocolate is fine but the equivalent ice cream bars aren't. Don't think there's a kitkat bar.

My dd grew out of her milk (lactose) allergy around that age. Started off slowly with cheese and yoghurt. At first milk caused slight redness around her mouth. Soon passed and she happily glugs it down now
