Hi

DD (3) is severely intolerant to dairy, soya, oats & barley and something else as she cannot tolerate baked beans, spaghetti hoops or jelly but is fine with tomatoes & wheat Hmm

She has been referred to chelsea & westminster hosp as her case is pretty severe Sad ( by our local hosp) for a probable gut biospy....

Anyway as she has not tried any dairy, soya etc for over 2yrs I was told to try her with some as they would want to know recent reaction which is fair enough....

So far she has had cooked cheese (cheese on toast ) pizza (dairy/soya free base from sains) marg containing milk & a sausage roll also containing milk....they have been given to her gradually over a 3mth period and she has tolerated them all

But we went to waggamumma's sat night and they assured me that the chicken in bread crumbs was soya free Hmm (I really should have questioned it more tbh Blush) and obv it wasn't as she has been sick this morning and done 6 horrid poos and said she has tummy ache

Basically, I would like to hear other peoples stories to give me hope Smile

TIA

I don't know if it counts but DS2 had awful reactions to milkprotein, he would get itchy bleeding ezcema on his cheeks mainly and it carried on itching for days after every exposure to milk products.
Suddenly sometime just before 3 it got worse for a couple of weeks and then it disappeared. Shock

my niece has finally out-grown her dairy intolerance -took her about 10 years though....

simpson · 22/05/2011 23:10

10 yrs

TBH my gut instinct is she will always have to be careful with what she eats ie only one dairy product a day (at best)

Just fed up of going to birthday parties (like today) and having to take "special" food for her iyswim.

I would like her to outgrow it before school, but cannot see it happening Sad

My DD is 7 and she seems to be out growing her problems with dairy at age 2 she would vomit and would have terrible eczema. I have introduced dairy back into her diet slowly over the last six months, she has not vomited but her skin has become sore. She is having dairy twice a week and is now old enough to understand that if she eats a yogurt or piece of cheese her eczema might flare up. Its really positive, she is also a coeliac so I don't want to limit her diet unless I have to.

A friend's children had severe allergies which they outgrew gradually. The younger one outgrew them quite quickly and the older one, who had more severe allergies, outgrew them at about 7 or 8 years old. He has retained one obscure allergy but can live pretty much "normally" apart from that.

There is hope but it might be a more gradual process for you op.
