Lactobacillus acidophilus and dairy free diets, are they compatible?

Before having DS's last tests results, which said DS was allergic to egg, soya, milk, nuts and other things; a dietitian prescribed DS a supplement that contains Lactobacilus Acidophilus (it comes in capsules and I was supposed to give DS 1 a day), but now that the allergy to milk is official I am wondering, perhaps unreasonably, if I should give them to DS or not.

Should I?
Any clues?

Thanks in advance

Ds was allergic to milk until around 13 months. I give his the supplement. It helps to protect the gut until it is old enough to be properly sealed. It did more good than harm IMO.

I let him play with playdough that has cream of tartar in it. C of T is a by product of the wine industry and they use egg whites when they produce red wine and milk and fish for white wine. To me this was a similar risk to acidophulus.

You can buy dairy-free acidophilus - Holland and Barrett do one, or you can buy it from a lot of mail order companies, like this one.

Thanks for that, I will put them back into the diet.
