When did you introduce eggs if your DC has a bad milk allergy

Title says it all really. I was originally going to leave it until a year but not sure now. DS had allergic colitis (blood in stools) with cows milk so I have been cautious with what I give him. Gluten seems to be going ok at the moment though.

Thanks for any replies

DS has similar and is also allergic to soya but is fine with eggs, had them from 8/9 months I think, he is just a year now and has had them for a while

My DD had a sever milk allergy (showed up more as welts (sp) on her skin but she would also instantly vomit up any milk products). Had an epipen, antihisthamines and all sorts for it.

However, she never had a problem with fish, eggs or gluten. She had some blood tests done at 15 months which established she still had mild milk allergy and she had a nut allergy - specifically peanuts but was ok with all other nuts. ANYWAY, i used to get a small amount of whatever and dab a bit on her skin behind her ear to see if she reacted. If no reaction i would dab a bit on her lip and see (epipen and antihisthamines to hand).

Paed advised me to check this way btw.

So check it and see.

As long as its not before normal guideline age for giving egg of course!

Thanks for your replies. I'll probably give it a go. Am I right in thinking it's best to go for egg yolks first? What would be good to try first? I was thinking of homemade custard but that may be a bit heavy on the egg-side!

yolks less allerginic. my ds doesn't like them tho!

Give them baked eggs first - I was told the more cooked the less servere the reaction - so start with cake or something, then maybe hard boiled, then quiche/custard - where it is lightly cooked or scrambled. I was told this after giving scrambled and giving ds anaphylactic shock!
