Food intolerance test query

Hi ds2 had an allergic reaction to peanut butter last December. In march he had the skin prick test done which was negative to all nuts. Then he had a blood test done testing for antibodies to peanuts. This was also negative so now he has to have the food intolerance test done.
Has anyone been through this and then not actually been allergic after all or am I clutching at straws?

They are going to put a cannula into his hand then touch his lip with peanut butter and see if there's any reaction. If not they will put some on his Tongue and so on.

Not sure. However my DS suffers allergic responces and he has a fairly normal IgE (allergy marker) and negative RASTS to all things he's been in contact with before reacting. He does however have emergency allergy medicines as they are treating the symptoms - the tests just help to determine 'what' the allergen is iyswim.

Could your DS have reacted to something else? What else was he eating/ come in contact with at the time?

The intolerance test you are descibing sounds more like a food challenge where they introduce foods a child is allergic to and test their tolerance levels to that food. eg how much they can have before they react.

Yes it is a food challenge test. It was breakfast time when I'd given him the peanut butter so he'd had nothing else.

I think I'm a bit confused sorry. The consultant was calling it food intolerance testing but after reading some threads on here it is a food challenge.'
Thanks for your replies I'm sure we will get to the bottom of this.

His faced swelled up and he had a rash. We have an epipen for hi
. Am I right in thinking he has a nut allergy and is going to have a food challenge done and using the word intolerance is incorrect. I'm sorry for all this confusion.

It was on a piece of bread that he eats all the time. We took him straight to a & e when it happened as dh recognised it. The docs said
It was an allergic reaction to the peanut. They said even though the reaction was severe and they know what's caused it we still need to do the tests. I was just hoping with the first two being negative then he may not be allergic after all.
