DS7 had been holding his own on the 50th centile since his intolerance diagnoses when he was 3. He hasn't really gained in height but he's now dropped to the 9th centile. I realise these aren't the be all and end all of everything but there is nothing to him.

He's intolerant to gluten, wheat and dairy.

Any suggestions to get some calories into him? He's always fidgeting and on the go so obviously burning lots. Any ideas greatly received.

Thank you

Sarah

Fatty cuts of meat and fish, lots of nuts, avacodo, and some fried food.

Christmas puddings !! very very high in calories.

Avocado 50g fat each.

When cooking add fat to stuf, so oil etc into scrambled eggs etc drizzle of olive oil over salad. DD has cf with a problem of weight gain this is what we are encouraged to do, She also has mars bars etc as snacks when the others have fruit at pre-school but obviously that's not apprpriate for you although intoducing extra snacks (working with the school) may help).

A dietican referal for a supplement may help (although I don't know which one would be most approriate for his allergies).

It is a real problem for dairy allergic kids - are there any crisps he can eat - salt reduced ones? I add lots of olive oil to pasta once cooked; oodles of soya puddings; nuts would be great!

extra meals - I added a bed time meal to my sons's diet at one point and followed the New Zealand 5 meals a day approach with him and it helped enormously

Thank you for your suggestions. School is considered a 'healthy school' we've had enough hassle over DS lunches and not being healthy although he is allowed pretty much what we want in them now. I will investigate the possibility of breaktime snacks other than fruit.

I think adding in an additional meal is a good one - perhaps porridge before bed? Will see how it goes, normally he just has a biscuit, I'm sure I can find some calories somewhere lol If only I could pass some of my fat onto him.....lol

The dietician also added that not only fats, but proteins too should be increased. Baked beans, hummus and adding egg yolk to dishes or as snacks.
Can i also suggest getting him regularly weighed and height monitored by a medical professional. If there is a continued problem there will be a chain of evidence to present.

Add oatly cream to breakfast cereal if he eats it. Generous with pure or vitalite on toast or sandwiches. Roast veg in olive oil.

Will he eat olives as a snack?

Use sunblush or sundried tomatoes when making pasta sauce.

Like the extra meal before bed idea, might try that for DS.

Thank you again, We have upped the amount of food in 'snacks' and also increased the amount of food as 'supper'. Have just found out that the school meal provider will cater for intolerances (school told me they wouldn't) so he will be having school dinners (he wants them) after Easter so I can cook a good meal in the evening as well for him. I think he's going through a growth spurt he is suddenly hungry all the time.

I will be phoning the dietician we used to see (haven't managed to get through to her yet) and asking if we can have another appointment, she did say to just phone if I was concerned so hopefully she can just fit us in soon and weigh him then.

Not sure if he'll eat olives, I hate them and I doubt he's ever tried them! We are doing lots of toast at the moment with vitalite on, he's a bit of a toast addict! Will get some Oatley cream he does love cereal (when he's not trying to live on toast!) Will also get some hummus to try again (hopefully won't upset his tummy).

Thanks ladies I really appreciate it, so sunny today he had hardly anything on and he looks like he should be in an advert for malnourished children 'please give £3 a month to help wangle99 DS' lol
