Paint causing skin reaction?

I have just painted my son's bedroom. I painted on Thursday and Friday. On Friday my face and top of my chest started to itch. This morning my face is really itchy and feels as though it is burning. When I woke up my lips were slightly swollen and my hands puffy. Went outside for a couple of hours and the burning sensation on my face calmed down. It is back again now I am home.

This week the fields near us were sprayed with some fertilizer or weed killer - there is a strange smell in the air. I thought it might be this as my hands, face, neck and top of chest are exposed when I walk the dog. However it improved when I was outside. Then I decided on the paint.

Now I looked online and it referred to latex paint - major idea struck. I had a smear the other week and since then I have been itchy and sore around my vagina - I thought latex gloves from the nurse. Then I discovered the condoms dh and I have been using are latex and I have been suffering from major itchy problems. We have used latex free ones in the past and not had these problems. I also can't eat kiwi, raw carrot, nectarines, apples or peaches as I get an itchy throat - this oral allergy syndrome has a link to latex allergy.

However, then discovered that latex paint doesn't contain any latex now, so am I back to square one??

That was long- wanted to give the whole picture!

My dd has become bad after emulsion paint was used on the ceilings in our stairs before. She became quite stressed out about it and developed a tight chest and coughing ect. I am sure she may have had tickling/itching throat aswell. So bad she had to evacuate her bedroom and sleep in the living room at the time. However, she suffers mild asthma when ill, eczema and is anaphylactic to peanuts and has so many multiple allergies I would not know where to start or what to blame it on. Just know now to be extra careful when painting again and keep her well away! She can't eat kiwi, does now eat carrot but same as you - only cooked, allergic to melon, banana along the latex line but not yet to true latex. It's a real pain how these thing affect the everyday life, isnt it?

Thanks for replying. I didn't have any coughing whilst I was painting, just the skin reaction. My face is still itchy and dry, but it has calmed down a lot. I got dh to finish the room!
