Shampoo for eczema sufferer?

DD has bad eczema, now much better since we saw a dermatologist but we are struggling with shampoo. The shampoo he gave her (ceanol) seems really harsh and makes her skin really dry and itchy, I daren't try normal baby shampoos but she does need something to clean her ever-growing flowing locks! Any suggestions?
Thanks

I use this and it's the only shampoo that doesn't give me eczema. It isn't cheap but it's quite a strong mixture and I find I can dilute it to make it go further no problem.

I have used Allergenics when my eczema has been bad on my eyebrows Confused when pregnantSmile.

Works a treat.

With my DS I found Baby Aveeno products (the new eczema therapy range) worked really well. You can use the wash as a shampoo. I think the only UK website that sells them is soft-skin.co.uk...

AngelDog · 24/03/2011 21:46

I've not tried it yet but I would have thought that something like liquid from soapnuts would probably be reasonably gentle.

MerryMarigold · 24/03/2011 21:49

How old is dd? My ds1 had eczema and we only used water to wash hair till he was 4. Seemed surprisingly ok! Now we use any of them and he's ok.

I've just the Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo from www.soft-skin.co.uk & its great for craddle cap. Hope you manage to get it sorted.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 26/06/2012 15:49

DD1 is still on baby klorane shampoo even if 7 (lots of hairs and craddle cap asa baby so needded the shampoo) here

but we had to try the whole pharmacy before finding one which works for her. oilatum range were the worst, and anything with aloe vera in.

DS is nearly 5 and we've never used any shampoo on him due to his eczema. We just wash his hair in the bath water every night (which has Dermol 600 in it). His hair is very light blonde yet never looks greasy.

MangoLangoTango · 27/06/2012 10:07

Same as freefrommum, I use loads of Dermol and put it neat in DS hair then use water to work it into a (rather pathetic admittedly) lather. Rinses off easily and cleans very well despite the lack of suds. I've found the hydromol liquid bath additive works just as well.

Not only did it not worsen his eczema, actually made it better!

Chaotica · 27/06/2012 10:14

I use Dead Sea Magik shampoo (made from salt and minerals).

ChocaMum · 27/06/2012 11:24

We are given alphosyl shampoo on prescription which is the only thing that has stopped dd from pulling her hair out!

EsexGirl · 07/07/2012 17:23

I am allergic to many shampoos, so use Nettle & Jasmine Shampoo from Nirvana Natural. Nirvananatural.co.uk . The smell's not great, but you get used to it!

NaturalNatures · 07/07/2012 18:01

I use plain water with a vinegar rinse, it's the only thing that's worked for me.

Maz007 · 07/07/2012 19:43

Really helpful to hear that Dermol works well - had not tried it in DD's hair but will do as the less extra stuff in her bath the happier her skin.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 07/07/2012 19:46

A'kin shampoo and conditioner or "yes to carrots" both work well on my dd who suffers with eczema :)

greeneone12 · 10/07/2012 19:50

Body Shop Buruti Baby - they will give you a tiny tester too.

heliotrope · 10/07/2012 21:26

I use the Green Baby lavender stuff on hair, although don't use anything else in their bath. It seems quite mild and a tiny weeny bit suds up well which I like - it lasts for ages.

Our Dermatologist recommended Simple shampoo. Ds is fine with it now but when his eczema was bad I just washed his hair with bath water as thought any shampoo may make the eczema worse.
