Allergic to Aveeno cream, anyone?

Having read such a rave feedback on Aveeno cream, I also tried the Aveeno baby lotion with ds who is 3 months and has moderate eczema. However, within the same day and after I applied twice the lotion, his rashes were significantly more red and swollen. I am very puzzled. He seems to have a negtive reaction to Aveeno. I just wonder has anyone of you had the similar experience as us? Thanks!

We use Aveeno cream (not lotion) and it's been marvellous. That's not to say that it will suit everyone though. My dd's excema is worsened by several creams, aqueous and E45 being the main culprits.

I'm afraid it is often trial and error to pin done something that works for your child - my medicine cabinet is testament to that as it's full of half-used creams and potions!

aveeno was the only thing that cleared my baby's eczema. As Potty says tho, you have to find what's right for your babe. Aqueous cream made my ds's skin worse.

Try a different product from the range. We use the cream, partly because it has fewer ingredients listed than the lotion. My theory is that the fewer ingredients the less likely to contain some obscure chemical that could cause reactions. We find that we have to rotate creams every month or two anyway. We rotate between Aveeno, aqueous and Vaseline Intensive Care (can't remember which VIC one though).

We use Aveeno cream (not lotion) and is fantastic. However, I have noticed that the one that has an itch relief ingredient (blue band) calms the itching a bit but, if the skin is broken, it may sting.

Normal Aveeno cream (again, not lotion) is equally good and not so stingy over more damaged skin.

I have never used the baby lotion, so I have no idea what may be causing it.

does it contain lanolin? if so try sk cream (ask for lanolin free version) found it cleared ds1's eczema and recommended by susan clarke, sunday times columnist 'whats the alternative'. found out about it in her book 'what really works for kids' supplier for sk cream i think is on her website whatreallyworks.co.uk. or post again and i will find details for you if interested.

Thank you all for your replies.
Chandra, which Aveeno cream you used? You also mentioned the normal aveeno cream. What are the differences?
Shrub, the lotion has no lanolin in it. Please let me know more details about sk cream.

I switch between the creams with the green band and blue band (blue=anti-itching) depending in the appearance of DS's eczema. Both presentations come with a pump.
The blue one has some natural soother, I don't remember if it is eucaliptus, mentol or something of the sort.
