Pollen/Allergens in the air at this time of year?

DD1 has asthma/eczema/hayfever/egg allergy.

The hayfever and egg allergy were confirmed in RAST testing. As far as I remember she reacted to what was a 5-seed mix of grass.

Yesterday was such a lovely day here that she spent a lot of time outside. By last night the eczema on her legs had flared up more than I have seen it since she was a toddler. She is nearly 5.

MIL says it is too early in the year for pollen to have caused it but I don't think it is a coincidence.

Anyone else suffering hayfever/pollen reactions this early?

Thanks

Your poor Dd. I've started just this week, it does seem early but the dreaded hayfever symptoms are all there Sad.

Yes, it's tree pollen that gets me, and our house is surrounded by trees, big giant trees!

Thanks for the replies. Could be trees so.

We are in the countryside so lots of trees and grass.

I'm waiting on an allergy referral for her as the paed she sees for her asthma isn't great about allergies.

Just thinking about it though she has started seeing a play therapist recently and the room is very warm compared to our fridge house and the floor is carpeted so that might be it.

She doesn't seem to suffer too much with her eyes and nose from the hayfever, it's her skin that flares up. Maybe the Singulair she takes for the asthma helps with the respiratory side of things.

My eczema stirs itself around this time of year and has been a bit itchy for about a week, so slapping on the Aveeno. The National Pollen & Aerobiology research unit at Worcester University has a pollen calendar, maybe of interest to your MIL.

Thanks for the link Claire.

Several trees at peak pollen period at the moment. Very interesting.

I mentioned MIL as although the allergies come from DH's side of the family the woman is still convinced that I am in some way responsible. Sad
