Hi

This is my first time on this website and I thought some of you might like to know what has helped my little 3 year old girl.

She suffered from eczema since 4 months old and was on up to 1% hydrocotozone, aqueous cream and emulsfying soap. As she got older I managed to get her down to 0.5% hydrocotozone but she flared up all the time and I had to use it constantly. As she was becoming a toddler and allergic to grass her knees were becoming particularly hard, red, sore and lumpy and no matter what I did they were always like that even the friction of trousers/tights to prevent contact with grass did not help. I did try a barrier cream and this did help but her poor little knees were always flaring up and backs of thighs etc in fact the main problem areas. Anyway to cut a long story short I was not happy with all these creams the aqueous cream even started to sting her and we changed to a medicated oatmeal moisturing lotion from the doctor. At the same time I read about evening primrose oil (helps cell regrowth) and started given it to her orally (check the amount with the chemist as it does have vitamin E in it). After it was in her system after about 5 days I started seeing results and now her legs/problem areas are none existant. Her skin is like any other little girls and I don't even have to moisturize it everyday, although I do most days once. IT IS FANTASTIC AND IT WORKED FOR HER

Where did you get the evening primrose oil from, how much do you give her and what does it taste like?? My dd has moderate to severe excema and i'll try anything!

Hi

You get the oil from the chemist. Mine is in capsules. It is cold pressed pure evening primrose oil 500mg 10% GLA. I give her 1 capsule per day in the morning I squeeze the oil onto a teaspoon and add a little bit of milk to it, they cannot tell the difference. My little girl knows it helps her and I have started letting her see me squeeze the capsule onto the spoon and she is happy now just to take it as oil because as she says it stops the rash and she is not sore. It might take a while for it to work but keep at it for some weeks and hopefully it will help your dd as much as it helped mine. I am thrilled to bits. Elaine

Hi

Thanks for your thread. I must say the oil has really moisturised my little daughter and because it is so good I have started taking it and my skin is really soft as well with no blemishes. It may be a thought to ask for it on prescription I will speak to the Doctor the next time and see what he says.

Hi there

Very interesting. How old is your dd now? Mine has mild eczema but it does flare up and I've tried any number of creams, homeopathy and the dreaded HC. She is only 8 months - is that too young ?

Flax seed oil is also good. Ds went mental on Evening Primrose - may have been the antioxidant or something. I gave from 9 months.
