my teen son had his safe cake , swopped for a identical one, at school. we have no way of finding out if it was deliberate or not.

slow onset, but needed epi at the end. took a while for him to recover, blood pressure still low , not the instant recovery we had seen before.

was, scary.
but all ok.

this week suspect new food (sort of, its complicated) went to hospital as symptoms didnt resolve.

just been a very stressful time really.

we have used the epi pen 3 times in total now.

previous epi moment was last november, another mystery reaction.

my poor , poor boy , its all too much.

I really feel for you. It is so worrying. You definitely need to insist that the trigger is identified, it does take away some of the constant fretting.

DC3 (3)went through months of horrific reactions and saw the consultant several times. We had to keep a diary of times of the day that it happened, food he had eaten etc. It seems to be that he is allergic to his own sweat. He has anti-histamines daily to try to prevent a severe reaction.

What happens when he reacts? Does he get a rash and swelling of his lips, eyes, throat etc?

i should have given more details, but its been a long two weeks!

am so glad its half term!

my son has multiple food and environmental allergies, and is on daily anti histamines and other stuff anyway.

son had his prednislone once we got to the hosptial.

we are going back for skin prick testing in july to try and work out the seed problem.

am also made a complaint about the treatment my son recieved once we gave him the epi pen.
have forwarded the link to the hospital within my complaint.

also, when my son was younger he did hive up to his own sweat, but grew out of that, so its interesing to hear about other peoples reaction to own bodies!

as for the school problem, i cant blame them , we have no way of working out if this was done on purpose, or not. break time is very, very busy, and he left his cake on the table and bent down to get some water out of his bag. the only time his eyes were of his food. he is very careful of his food.
sadly he is now back to avoiding the lunch hall, and excluding himself from his friends, who dont have his concerns in their lives.

hopefully if this was done on purpose, the child must have noticed my sons sudden absence, so have got the message now.

i am going to call the school and suggest some allergy education in phse lessons. as i gfeel that this is the most practical way forward.
