My two children are on a similar diet but also egg free, I use Doves gluten free flour which works really well (just add a bit more water), Pure marg which is dairy free and soya milk in recipes. Lots of recipies can be adapted using alternatives it can be just trial and error. Just check labels well.
Good luck and hope that it all works out ok. Smile

Thanks for your replySmile
TBH...He is already wheat free and was patchy gluten free it is the dairy bit that has thrown me!
I use Doves farm too and soya milk.Have bought Dairy free choc etc today and some other bits. After a month we are to introduce lactolite...they are ?coeliac but as he has been wheat and gluten free for so long hard to diagnose and we are,at present unsure re introducing gluten for 6 weeks for tests to be done.Although they are doing bloods on Friday...not entirely sure what they are looking for though[some marker/indicator]
You must have your work cut out with egg as well!!

Dairy free was our first step, then wheat. My son gave us the major problem with egg which I do agree is a big pain in the bum. He was two in dec and we are discussing with his doctor about coeliac testing, I know its going to be really hard for him having wheat for 6 weeks.
Tescos do a good dairy free choc, and moo free choc is lush (they also do a easter egg) but very expensive so is for a real treat in our house, I get that on ebay. I also buy a squirty cream in a can which is soya and that is lush, I can't remember its name tho at the moment.
My daughter has occasionally the lactose free cheese which does not taste too bad, its much better than the dairy free cheese so hopefully he will be ok with that.
It can be hard but to be honest I think that we eat quite a healthy diet because of making most things from scratch, and I quite often scribble changes in recipe books when I changes recipes. The biggest problems are eating out and parties. My sons 2nd birthday party was all d/f, e/f, g/f, and w/f it was a lot of work but he could eat what ever he wanted and to be honest I don't think many people noticed.
Hope it all goes ok on Friday Smile

Doobydoo · 19/02/2011 20:45

Wow! That is fab re party. It is important that on that day in particular it is all about them isn't it?
I bought some of the moo choc today and buttons and even mint carob which he liked!
Also I got some different cheesesque thingsSmileWe have ordered some choc spread from local health food shop as he loved nutella[like hhis older brother].He had a bit of a tantrum today when he realised he couldn't have usual ice cream etc but we got the glace one which he liked. His brother who eats gluten[he is 11[ is also to be tested.
Thanks so much for your posts they have boosted me...as I know it can be done!
Good luck re your 2 year old it is a tough decision and I wish it could be sorted in a different way.6 weeks of gluten is a daunting thought.
How old is your other child and how did you find out with them? Also what indicators were there for your 2 with egg, gluten, wheat and dairy? What made you realise?
Hope you don't mind all the questions[eek]

www.elanaspantry.com/ has some really lovely gluten-free recipes. They're not all dairy-free but a lot of them are, or can be easily adapted with non-dairy milk, dark chocolate and so on. :)

Doobydoo · 19/02/2011 21:01

Thanks.Have bookmarked it.The Americans seem to be way ahead of us in this...ie ease of access to ingredients etc.I know Phil Vickery has a gluten free baking book out that looks good.Up to now I have been adapting Nigella recipes and a chocolate cook book and also The Silver Spoon which is great.Need to just realise that I can't use dairy.Got the soya pure today and will attempt muffins[dairy free choc butons added] as ds2 is desperate for themGrin

I wouldn't bother with the Phil Vickery book tbh - my mum got it from the book people for me, and somehow even the pictures of his cakes look flat and unappealing.

I use the Doves farm sr flour, and am currently very into Trex for baking which is df, and gives lovely even plain sponge

My eldest is 7 she has terrible eczema and would vomit straight after eating dairy, when we took it out of her diet her skin cleared up, and she also was not growing well or sleeping and the doctor decided to test for food allergies.
My son had green poos and was a very grumpy baby, also would get hives and swelling around his lips. He then had a reaction to some cream that was prescribed for his eczema (pussy blisters over creamed areas) which led to many hospital visits and luckly we had a great doc. He has had a skin prick test, and blood test for allergies which has highlighted the egg and dairy but not wheat. When he eats wheat he does the most yucky smelly poos so going to be tested for coeliac's. He has other health problems as well and they always seem to flare up and the doc puts of testing so if he is ok we will start with the wheat in June.
Any help with can all give each other is great it can be really hard and support from others really helps.

I'm just getting going on dairy free, but Oatly oat milk seems to work okay in cooking so far.

Doobydoo · 20/02/2011 09:12

Hanreeoak your poor dc and you!
It really helps having a doctor that isn't dismissive. With ds2 we were in Ireland when he was born and tbh didi it ourselves re dairy the wheat/gluten came about when he was being weaned.Since we have returned to UK we have had great support thus far.Though feel we are in early stages re official diagnosis.
Best of luck in June.I know it has to be done and I wish you all the best with it.Let me know how it goes.
ds2 seems to have an issue with oats...it is trial and error.

If you are gf, don't go with the oatly milk - most oats are very contaminated with wheat, and many coeliacs have problems even with the special certified gf oats.

Also try gluten-freedairy-freemamauk.blogspot.co.uk/

I haven't mastered bread or pizza yet, but plenty of recipes and links on there none-the-less!

mamado · 26/04/2012 13:15

the squirty cream is soyatoo - I've found it online but not in shops.

dairyfreebabyandme · 01/05/2012 13:08

Love Pure love Dove's flour. Stork margarine (blobk not utb) used to be dairy free too (not sure if it still is). Doves and Pure websites have good recipe ideas. You can also give Pig in the Kitchen a try and The Intolerant Gourmet. There's more if you Google. There's a lot of stuff out there.
