My 3 month old had cradle cap and a few weeks ago it seemed to turn to eczema. She has always rubbed her forehead and ears when she is tired & when she stirs in her sleep. I was hoping it would stop when we got rid of the eczema - as she gets older she is drawing blood and really causing damage.
We have tried turning the ends of her sleeves over and putting socks on her hands (mittens just come of) but she was giving herself friction burns (really weepy and taking ages to heal).
After coating her in diprobase several times a day, the eczema is looking much better but the sleepy scratching (and lots of bloodyness) is still there.
Do you allergy experts think that the scratching is unrelated to the eczema? If not, why does she only itch it sleep times (in lots of different places etc, so i don't think she is allergic to a particular blanket etc).
How can I stop her damaging herself. I have seen recommendations for the Peke Moe in the mumsnet archives, but I think it would give us the same problems as covering her hands previously. We put a cotton hat on her as she sleeps, but she pushes it off to get at the itching. And if it stays on it gets stuck to he open cuts.
Poor little one.
Any ideas or experience would be appreciated.
