Hello ladies, I wonder if anyone can help. Bit of background. My son has severe allargies to wheat and nuts. Additionally he has minor allergy to egg as well as horses, cats and dogs but nothing else as far as we know.

With his food allergies reactions are immediate and fast. On contact with animals fur he will break out in hives on contact straight away. After a flare up he occasionally has wandering hives but nothing too great. His allergies can also be worse when hes ill.

Yesterday, when I got him home I notice a big welt on his arm, when I rolled his sleeve up there were more. Eventually I stripped him off and he was covered. He had a huge red line on the top of his bum and swaithes of hives that eventually joined together froming huge plaques. These spead all over his body.

I gave him antimines and it calmed down a little. This morning he got up and again there were still loads of hives/plaques over his legs and some big welts on his face. Gave him more antihistime and again it calmed down. He's fine now.

But I am at a total loss as to what it was. He does have a bit of a col. It was definialty an allergic reaction but not and immediate one like the tyope we've seen before but it looked dreadful.

Just wondered of anyone had had anything similar before?

We've had this and it's been a viral reaction; I took DS to the GP and as he had no other symptoms and was under the weather they decided viral ...

My dd had loads of hives which grew huge and merged together all over her body on her first ever major reaction to peanuts. I had never seen anything like it. She had to stay in hospital over night at the time and have Epipens. It sounds like quite a reaction feynman. Any possible way he had came into contact with nuts or eaten nuts or wheat? Was he at school, maybe have a chat to make sure what he could have come into contact with?

thanks for the replies. I am thinking it must have been a reaction to a virus. I think it's unlikely he came into contact with nuts/wheat as he was only at pre-school a couple of hours and not over lunch, and was then with me.
It was dreadful though, we are back at hosp next week so I'll ask them when I'm there but viral is the only thing I can think of.
