6mo with slight rash - see doctor?

I spotted my 6mo has a slight rash on his front at bathtime yesterday. He has a few little patches of dry skin on his front, which are also a little pink, although I think the pinkness has already faded since yesterday. We started him on solids yesterday, but are giving BLW a go, so I think at most he had a tiny bit of brocolli at lunchtime, and maybe a few crumbs of pitta bread in the evening (but probably only an hour before the bath - would a reaction happen that quickly?). He also handled carrot, chicken and cucumber at lunch and/or dinner, but don't believe he ate any.

The day before we took him swimming for the first time, and hence also put some bath stuff in his bath (he normally just has water) to wash the chlorine off. I didn't notice the rash yesterday morning, but we were in a bit of a rush, and DH did a few nappy changes yesterday, and I am not sure he would have noticed it - so unfortunately I'm not sure when it appeared :(

He generally seems fine in himself, although occasionally bothered by his teeth, so I am not worried about the rash currently. But I don't know if I should be taking him to a doctor before it goes, so I can get more advice before he has contact with chlorine/soap/bread/anything else again?

Hmm - kind of tricky as you have so many variables as to what may have caused it but I would think it's most likely to be chlorine/soap/viral rash/teeth.

As long as you don't think it's anything mroe serious than a reactive rash, I would stop putting anything in the bath for a while.

Notice if the rash moves down his body, so if it seems to more around the bottom area tomorrow, then spread to his thighs etc. If yes, then it's prob just a viral rash.

Could also easily be teething rash.

If you are in any doubt, take him to gp/HV.

Thanks for your advice, and sorry not to have come back sooner - have had internet issues, and don't like doing long posts on my phone...

The rash is now all but gone, but I did take a photo to show the HV, and you also reminded me I'd taken some when he was in the bath. I feel bad for not having spotted it, but knowing what I was looking for, at least some of the rash was there at this point - so the day before he had anything to eat.

The rash didn't move, so I don't know if that means it's less likely it is viral?

Will certainly hold off on anything more in his bath, but do you think we should avoid taking him swimming again for a bit too? And if not, is water 'enough' to wash off the chlorine?
