Any experience of Intercron?

DS1 is on a desensitisation programme for his dairy allergy - we have gone from him reacting at a cumulative dose of 0.75 ml of boiled milk to being able to have 35 ml of boiled milk each day (after 9 months!), so it is all very encouraging.

He does get a few spots and things though, so the specialist wants us to give him a drug called Intercron (apparently similar to antihistamine, but not) before each dose.

Has anyone used this or know anything about it? We are not in the UK so I don't know if this is the same name it is given there...

Thank you! am feeling a bit wobbly this week as we are in the process of going from 30 to 40 ml (over 3 days) and he has a bit more in the way of spots etc, though nothing major.

His IgEs have gone down to about half what they were at the start of the programme (after initially going up, as is apparently normal), which is great.

Oh, my God, Weta, I finaly hear of milk allergy treatment. Please, let me explain you how we stand. My son is 3 and half years old. We live in Romania. I have never heard here of a "desensitisation programme" for this allergy. All the doctors told me NOT TO GIVE him milk or milk derivates (yogurt, creams, cheese, etc) AT ALL!
His IgE for milk is 37 kU/L and the normal value is 0,35 kU/L. 6 months ago he had 59 kU/L but we took a homeopath treatment and we reached this value - 37. But it doesn't go down any more...
Please, tell me your child's values of IgE and tell what this desensitisation programme means.
My e-mail address is [email protected].
Please, understand me cause only a mom who has a child with allery can understand me!
Excuse my english, please!

Irenia your doctor is right, it is very important NOT to give your child anything containing milk. Desensitisation programmes must only be carried out with medical supervision. These programmes are still very rare, even in this country. My son is allergic to milk, wheat and egg. His IgE results are over 100 kU/l for milk, 73.9kU/l for egg and 63.5kU/l for wheat. Like your son, his results have got worse not better but there is still hope that one day he will grow his allergies but probably not for a long time. We have not been offered a desensitisation programme, I think only a few doctors in this country do this.

Irenia, first I have to repeat what freefrommum said - this kind of thing absolutely has to be done under really close medical supervision.

My son is now 8 and we started the desensitisation 18 months ago. Before that we were also told not to give anything containing milk at all, and even now that he is on the desensitisation programme we are very strict and don't give him any other milk products.

We live in Luxembourg and our specialist also works across the border in France at a clinic in Nancy where they developed this programme a few years ago. We were previously living in the south of France and they don't do it there. I think it is all very new and only in very few places.

My son's IgE levels were around 43 when we started (before that they had been increasing over time), then they went up to 53 after the first six months, but they have now come down to 15 (he now has 120 ml of boiled milk each day).

I'm sorry not to be able to offer you more hope, but you really must not do something like this on your own. Your son is still young though, and many children do outgrow their allergies by the age of 5 or so. I have also known of children how outgrow dairy allergy when they reach puberty (age 10-11).

Good luck! also you can always post on this forum about any concerns or difficulties you are having - people are so friendly and we all do understand what it's like.
