Bollocks, I think the friday rash phonecalls are solved.

I have had quite a few phonecalls on fridays from Nursery saying ds has developed a facial rash, the worst last friday when I picked him up. I've been puzzling for weeks, they're so good at avoiding milk and soya for him.

But I fed him sardines tonight (he's been reacting to his calcium supplement) and within minutes he had horrific fish-smelling diarehha up his back and now has a rash. Then I thought, I bet like all the schools I've worked in Friday is fish day for lunch. I'll ring to confirm but it seems a sensible explanation.

Quite depressed to think he may have more than one allergy potentially, but it seems likely.

He's never been tested (only 8 months). As he had a rash/ diarhhea/ weight loss on milk which stopped straight away on Neocate/ Nutramigen it was taken as a given that he had milk allergy. As soya also disagreed with him they presumed that too, no actual tests. I don't know much about them or if they're suitable for his age.

Blood tests were offered at one point, but I said unless there was significant medical benefit I wouldn't want to inflict them on him. As he was on Neocate anyway it was pointless to do them as he obviously couldn't tolerate normal formula whatever the outcome.

As it is now I simply plan to avoid fish in light of the reactions.

Its a good and bad thing really. Bad that he's reacting, but good that you may have found a cause. Some people struggle for ages to pick out a 'culprit'.
