Allergy blood test came back

And not only is ds1 (3.3) showing a strong allergic reaction to peanuts, eggs and fairly strong to milk (we knew about the peanuts and eggs as he vomits and his lips have been swelling up with them) but we also randomly chose shellfish and mussels as they said we might as well test for 5 things at a time.

They also came back as showing a strong allergic reaction too, so now I am a bit lost as to whether we should ask to have more tests done to see what else he is allergic to (if anything) or do we wait to see if his lip swells again before asking?

He has really bad eczema too which I've posted about before, so I'm not sure if it's maybe worth asking to do an exclusion diet to see if that also helps his skin, but at the same time, things are so disrupted at the moment with his skin, nursery, sleep etc etc that I'm not sure what to do next for the best.

Who did the allergy tests? I wou;d be cautious about doing an exclusion diet unless under medical/dietetic supervision as these diets do not contain all the nutrients he will need and you have to be careful about what foods you introduce when i.e yeast before wheat and bread etc.

It was the gp that did the test, and I agree about not doing the exclusion diet myself, but I want to have a plan or at least some ideas for when I go back to the gp in Monday.

I think that there must be a few different types of test or something cause everyone seems to have had slightly different experiences.

I guess I will just go in and ask what all the options are and whether there is an allergy clinic he can be referred to. Am quite confused by the whole thing just now. Seems to be a lot that he could be allergic to or maybe we just happened to pick the ones that he's allergic to the first time.

Thanks for the advice. We tried him with soya milk but he doesn't like it so he has small amounts of oat milk (or milk substitute). We had tried rice milk but read in the national eczema society magazine that it's not recommended for under 5s because of levels of arsenic, so guess we will cut that out too.

He does have alpro soya yoghurts, so might be worth testing for soya to check that they are not making things worse, although we then might be getting stuck for decnet amounts of calcium, but I agree - need to test further and then get some help from a dietician.

He's been on steroid creams on and off since he was a few months old. Betnovate when it's really bad, eumovate for the step down, and trimovate for his face.

We have been using pro topic since June as he didn't seem to get a lot better using the steroid creams (hasn't really been flared down or however you describe it) since April this year, but we are now a bit concerned that it's no longer helping either.

Went to the gp today and we are being referred to the childrens hospital in Glasgow for the allergy clinic, so also going to see the dermatologist there instead of the current one so that there can hopefully be a joined up approach.
