Hi, am slightly concerned about my ds who is 5. On saturday morning he woke with a rash all over his feet, gradually going up to his calves and a little on his hands. It was like a stinging nettle rash only the white blotches were bigger. Gave him some piriton and it went away over a few hours.

This morning it was back again, this time just on his hands. It looks like a classic allergy rash to me, but to what I don't know. He has never had this before. The only thing I can think of is we had dinner at the inlaws on Friday and mil did a Lloyd grossman korma. Last night I did the tikka one as we'd been at the zoo all day and was all I had in. We have never eaten these ones before. Do you think it could be this? Will head to focus later in the week armed with some pics but any thoughts appreciated.

my dd had this last week by the end of the week it covered most of her body in huge welts

The dr said she had urticaria that had most likley been brought on by something she'd digested and that it would more than likley go away on it's own, but we were to give her a 5ml spoon of piriton three times a day until the rash had gone for five days and then over the space of a month gradually wean her off it

He said we'd probably never find out what brought it on in the first place, but this leaves me slightly worried incase after the piriton stops it just comes back again Confused

ooh yes definately take pics with you as the first time I took dd the doc told me it was a viral rash (even though I did say that ds had had a viral rash before and it didn;t look like one when it was all up) the thing was though that it would generally get worse as the day went on but in the morning there would only be slight marks were it had been

So when I went I had taken lots of photos on my phone

Do you think your son could be allergic to coconut? I think this ingredient is in the korma and the tikka?

CharlieBoo · 01/11/2010 18:36

Well come home from school and it's all cleared up. It's defo not washing powder, haven't changed anything there. It could be the coconut, Korma is his fave dinner, never had this before though. Really wierd. He also eats strawberries by the bucket load but never had a reaction to them before either. The only thing he's allergic to is penicillin. Will try upload a pic when dp gets in, I haven't a clue how to do it!

I'm with pixie and nottired on this. My DS gets rashes when he's been playing football outside. I think he disturbs midges or something like that. one bite can set his whole leg into rash mode up to his knee. Allergy rashes tend to start either where they entered (mouth) or exit (!) or have consistent contact.

CharlieBoo · 03/11/2010 16:26

Right, he's come home from school and the rash is back, this time on his hands and knees. Went to gp yest as he has bit of an eye infection. Mentioned the rash, she said also unlikely to be allergy but possible viral and that was that. She wasn't really interested. What should I do now? Could it be washing powder? Or do you think viral? He has no temp, not ill and this is third time since Saturday he's had the rash! Help! Dp home today so going to put pics on when kids in bed.

I have just twitter he had crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast which he hasn't had for months. So this has so far occurred when he's had the korma sauce, tikka sauce and the cornflakes. All new things to his diet. Any ideas?

Is there any carpet at school? Maybe story time corner? Just thinking of why hands and knees in particular. Remember that if his immune system has been alerted for whatever reason he will be hyper sensitive at the moment.
