Hi

My DD is 3 1/2 months old and is EBF. She has started to develop round patches of dry skin on her legs and back. Some of her skin folds are also dry and some are red.

I don't know much about eczema, does this sound like it? She does not seem that bothered by it but it's only just started to develod. I am worried this is eczema, I've not put any creams on her as reluctant to do so without some knowledge of what is best, ant adivice? Or should I see my GP?

I have asthma and my DH has bad hayfever, so the chances of her not getting some problem is not great!

Thanks

sounds like it. My DS had it from around 4.5 months and we found aveeno bath oil and cream helped - you can get it on prescription

It's good to look at what you wash her clothes in, also I nearly cured my DS's eczema just with using water softener (unperfumed bath salts) You dissolve it in very warm water before adding to the bath.

You could look at yr diet as well; some high acid foods can cause eczema e.g. tomatoes, vinegar, oranges, dairy etc. I cured my ds's eczema with homoepathy.

Sounds like excema - my dd had it from 7 weeks and everyone including my parents were trying to tell me it was milk spots (whatever they are!). Dr first prescribed an aqueous cream which was ok and took off the scalier patches of skin on her earlobes but that needed applications throughout the day as it would wear off. We now use a really buttery emollient called hydromol which can be used on the skin and in the bath. We also use fairy detergent and fab conditioner on all hers and our clothes and bedding and just generally keep an eye on her. Its a bit of a pain to start with but once you find what works for you it just becomes part of the routine. BTW, health visitor was great - they can prescribe a few different creams/bath emollients at the same time so you can try stuff out and see what works. Good luck!
