6 weeks old dd has been prescribed fucidin H for angry rash on face, neck and shoulders, and capscal (same as dentinox i hear) for cradle cap.

i was told rash was baby acne now infected since went dry and then weeped a litle and behind ears gone scaly. also isolated spots on body so hoping this doesn't spread. (should i treat the isolated spots too???)

anyone experienced this? did fucidin H help? how long is it safe to use it. how long can i use cradle cap shampoo (is this safe?) so many questions...GP not very helpful so would appreciate some information from MNetters

fucidin i was told is quite a strong cream to use so to use it very sparingly, there are other creams that are not as strong, i was told by my gp that if its a bad breakout then fucidin for a couple of days then switch to another lower dose cream

fucidin h actually contains the least strong steroid, i.e. hydrocortisone (treats inflammatory conditions such as eczema) and an antibiotic to treat the infection. You should have a leaflet in the pack which tells you how much to use but if not it is here . The doctor should have specified how long to use it for and this instruction should be on the pharmacist's label but if not ask the pharmacist or doctor.

Don't know about the cradle cap stuff sorry. Are there no instructions with it?

I just used olive oil or sweet almond oil for craddle cap. It softens it and then give it a gentle rub with a flannel during bath time and it flakes off. I found it was much better than any lotion and much better for baby as its a natural and edible substance especialy if your LO has sensitive skin.

forevermore - I don't really have any advice on what to use but I would definitely not use any oil that come from nuts such as the sweet almond.
