My DD is severely intolerant to dairy, soya & oats.

She gets a sore tummy, diarrea (sp) and lethargic if she eats any of the above...

She has been free of the above foods for a while now...

Today we went to pizza hut and I was told she should be ok with the fish fingers on the menu which had vegetable extracts in them.

Anyway she ate them and potato wedges & ketchup (which I forgot to check Blush)

A while later (maybe 30mins) she had bright red cheeks, forehead & chin.

At first I put it down to her being hot or teething etc...

When we got home I gave her some piriton and within 10mins it was going down....

Is it possible that she is now allergic to something?? Probably soya....

Hi

Don't mean to but in but have you considered an issue with celery? It is a well recognised allergen and it is an ingredient in many ketchups.

I have a severe peanut and tree nut allergy (asthma, eczema, hay fever, rhinitis also) and lately I've had a few weird issues with a few foods and the common ingredients are tomato, mustard and celery, particularly after tomato ketchup so been looking in to what the issue may be.

I really feel for you as I find my severe food allergies a nightmare and I'm 25, I can't imagine how hard it is having a young child with these issues.

I am a member here as although I have no mini people as yet I'm hoping to be a mam soon! I have been round in circles many times with my allergies as struggled since being young so il try to share my knowledge/experience where I can.

crazy butt in all you like Grin thats excellent advice n certaininly possibly valid with my ds as he has hayfever too.

Is celery found in many foods?? Is there another wording for it when used in sauces??

celery has to be labelled as it is a recognised allergen, for example it is in heinz tomato ketchup (and many other brands) it is also in birds eye chicken dippers?! and many other of there battered/breaded products. i have found it is in nearly every pasta sauce sainsburys make. it is in nearly all soups, many things like pies etc that have a stock or gravy base as celery is used a lot in making sauces.

i have an issue in that my rast tests for tomato/celery/mustard came back ok but something is obviously triggering a reaction, my consultant has said rasts are not conclusive so you can get problems with something that appeared not to show any issue. normally they would also do skin prick tests but wont do them for me as i had a very bad reaction to a skin prick test when origionally tested for my nut allergies. obviously they tell me not to try and self diagnose so im currently having to avoid anything with tomato, mustard and celery in which is more difficult that it sounds! driving me mad at the mo!

yes my DS RAST tests came back OK. Overall it was 14 and consultant said no clear reaction to tomato or peanuts. I took this as meaning fine until someone mentioned another thread recently that her DC had a an alergy (might have been celery) with a RAST of 0.0025.

GP took him off cetirizine yesterday and his face is starting to go red again today and sneezing runny nose etc. I'm just playing the waiting game.

Had to drop off poo sample today at hosp and DD had blood test on wed for coeliacs.

She is also booked for skin prick tests in the next few wks although tbh I am kicking myself for not thinking of adding tomato

If everything comes back negative we are looking at a gut biopsy
