Do the two go hand in hand? Sleeplessness and Intolerance? I have a baby that survives on very little sleep, waking about 10 times a night to be resettled. Sometimes wont settle at all!!!
No dairy or soya in her diet at all but sleep still not happening. Tried it all!

DH broke down in tears last night as after 14 months we still dont get any sleep! DD1 was bad sleeper but DD2 is taking the PEE!!!! [knackered emoticon]!

Sorry I can't say for sure, but out of curiosity I'd be interested in the answer to this too

my DD (8) is lactose intolerant, along with chemical additives, & sometimes wheat (depending on stomach trouble flair ups) she also HAS had some problems with insomnia, though thankfully not so bad when she was a baby, her worst intolerance problems came about after antibiotics @ 5.

you've probably already tried these, but just incase.......We've managed her sleep problems with aromatherapy...lavender & chamomile, & also making sure she had plenty of magnesium in her system by adding Epsom Salts to her baths......this didn't stop it completely, but did help a LOT..........

She sorted the rest out herself about a year ago, after seeing a sleep tip somewhere, which said to wear socks in bed, she said something about poor circulation & cold feet making you sleep badly.......she's slept through ever since :)

wow that is already a huge help!!! Never thought about Epsom salts...will be trying that one!!!

It is soul destroying isnt it?!?! Gp just said that she needs less sleep than most as she is growing and putting on weight and is very active in daytime (and nightime!!!)

re lavender and chamomile...did you use a plug in or spray?!?! we tried a plug in calpol thing and she was WORSE!!! happy to try anything!!! Smile

Strangely, we have the reverse. My lactose intolerant DS could be an olympic sleeper.

Ah auntevil......you lucky thing!

glad to help :)

I personally don't trust he sleep sprays & plug ins, a lot are more chemical than actual aromatherapy oils............you can make your own natural & more effective sleep spray using aprox 15 drops of each of the above 100% pure aromatherapy oils in a 100ml spray bottle, top up with water & shake well before spraying, both are fine even with babies......

you can also add a few drops of each to her bath, or even just on her pillow or night clothes, or favourite bed time toy

Magnesium is a REALLY important mineral for sleep, relaxation & all sorts of other body functions, & its easy not to get enough, & some people just seem to need more Confused...........google the Epsom salt council for more info on how epsom salt works to get into your system, we use 2 cups to an adult bath......& you can buy big bags at the old style chemists

hope it works for you

intolerant children often have problem sleeping.
think about it......

all their inflamed gut linings, and when you lay them flat , on their beds , it stretches the stomach, and so leads to pain.

prop up the end of cot at feet or head, to stop this happening.

Great tips guys Smile

Off to buy oils, epsoms and raise her mattress tomorrow!!! If this works then all in for a bottle of champagne (which is dairy free Wink as huge thank yous!!!

someone on MN (I forgot who) suggested flax seed oil to help the healing of the gut.

I give this to my severely intolerant DD (2)

Although she normally reacts by being very lethargic....
