Anyone come across local honey as a remedy for hayfever?

DH has always had bad hayfever; we were told by someone yesterday that if you eat honey from a 5 mile radius of your local area it can alleviate symptoms.

this sort of makes sense; has anyone got experience of this or know anything more about it?

thanks.

Might ask my GP about it then... but will have to be next year, am PG right now so immune system unlikely to play ball. Thanks!

The FDA warned earlier this year about ear candles. And it seems the Hopi Cultural Preservation Office objects to their being associated with the Hopi people, who reportedly never practised this.

Ear Candles are indeed ineffective and dangerous.

I am a beekeeper. Some people that buy my honey swear by it for keeping their hayfever away. Others just like eating it :)
If you want to try and see if it helps your hayfever, then a spoonful a day followed by a glass of water is my recommended approach. Ideally start in the winter. (It's also a good detox btw.)

If local honey doesn't work for you then it may be because you are allergic to grass pollen. Remember bees visit flowering trees and plants for nectar and pollen, not grass.

To find a beekeeper in your area, visit the British Beekeepers Website which has a list of local associations:

Ear candles are a con! I did them and took them apart and saw all the 'wax'.. but it isn't really wax.. it doesn't taste like ear wax.. it tastes the same as the candle!
