Does eczema really flare up with teething??

Hi all,

My DD (10 month old)'s eczema seemed all under control after her allergies (cows milk, eggs and hazelnut) had been confirmed, and I cut them out of my diet as I'm BFing.

However her first tooth came out today and the eczema is back again, mostly legs and jaws.
I've read online it could be teething?
Why on earth could teething make eczema flare up??!

In a way I wish it was just teething because food-wise I'm confused.
I had first thought it was related to possible traces of milk and hazelnut in some biscuits I had eaten, but it shouldn't make it SO bad...

The other thing is I started eating gluten products again after the allergy tests confirmed she wasn't allergic to wheat (her skin test 3 months ago was positive, and I was off gluten since then, until last week where both blood and skin tests were negative). Maybe it's the fact I ate so much wheat/gluten products in the last week...

any idea? thanks!

Stress can make eczema worse and I guess for a baby teething can be pretty stressful!

My DS's eczema certainly seemed to flare up with his first few teeth but doesn't seem to now he's got used to teething (except round his mouth which I put down to excess dribble).

I'm lucky that he only has an egg allergy AFAIK so I tend to notice that changes in the weather etc can cause him problems.

Sadly, it isn't just diet that causes eczema and as you've found it can be impossible to identify what's made it worse (or sometimes, hopefully, better).
