What sun cream best for eczema?

Does anyone have a recommendation for what sun cream is best to use on 3 year old with eczema? Most seem to just aggravate his rash. He gets loads of red spots rather than dry patches - starts in creases at knees/ elbows then spreads to back of legs, up thighs etc and just can't stop scratching.

Any advice at all for sun creams?

Or managing eczema in the heat would be helpful. SO far i am getting through tubes of Fusidin like there is no tomorrow.

Many thanks

wendie

we use uvistat and it seems to do the trick although ds doesnt get really bad eczema.

i have tried LOADS of creams branded sensitive/hypo-allergenic etc. and all aggravated dd's eczema except for asda's own brand 'sensitive' (factor 30) which is about £4 for a big bottle

lots of the ones i tried were recommended by friends who have dc's with eczema, so i guess it comes down to what suits each individual child.. my advice is keep trying different brands, and when you find one that works stock up on it!

Thanks both - i'll just keep trying. It is annoying though when they are labelled sensitive etc as you say. wendie

Proderm mousse is the kindest one I've found. Expensive but worth it in my book.

As for treating exzema why are you using Fucidin? IS your DC's eczema infected? Fucidin is an antibiotic cream.

If it's not infected you need to use a good moisturiser like oily cream (Hydrous ointment) or E45 so that the sweat doesn't irritate his skin. That works as a prevention. For treatment you need to use hydrocortisone cream which you can buy but would be better getting your GP to prescribe.

Lots of baths in something like Oilatum which doesn't dry the skin out would help too. Don't use any sort of bubble bath or soap even if it says it's moisturising - it will still dry his skin and make it worse.

Eucerin 50+ block
It's about 15 quid and worth every penny.

Greenpeople - no chemical nasties at all. In fact, their entire baby range is fantastic, we swear by it.
Agree about questioning fuciden use, only for use on broken skin as antibiotic. Moisturise, moisturise and moisturise!!! We found porridge oats in the bath to really help too.

sun sensitive is the best sun cream, you can get it from Lloyds chemists, it was reccommended by my daughters eczema nurse when we went on holiday and was fab. Also have you tried the aveeno products for eczema they are brilliant, my daughter had terrible eczema but it has been brought under control by using a combination of emolients and aveeno, definetley worth a try.
Hope it helps.
