Confused Diary/Soya Allergy

Hi

This is my first time posting on here. My 22mth old son has finally been referred to a dietician (only had problems with him since he was a few months old) we were originally told to cut dairy out of his diet, we did but he was still having loose stools (and soya yoghurt) so have now been told to cut out Soya and see what happens!!

Can anyone tell me if he could be allergic to soya & not dairy or do they go hand in hand? Sorry if dumb question but I'm a bit overaught with all the info on the web.

Am also confused as to how much I need to cut out the Soya ie just the yogs or also what it's found in. He is also having Nutramigen milk which has trace of Soya in.

Hope someone can help, as I feel so down about this.

Thnx x

Originally the HV said it a Lactose intolerance and to indtroduce dairy when weaning but as his stools weren't improving he was sent to the dietician who said it was more than likely an allergy as when he was a baby he couldn't tolerate Lacto free milks or Soy milks.

To be honest I don't know whether I am coming or going, I feel as tho I've been left to just get on with it and work out myself.

He has never been a great sleeper and has always woken in the night crying, tummy rumbling and he does get rashes around his mouth and neck.

No, just the dietician through the GP. This has only been going on for the last 5weeks, after reading some things on here, think I will push to see somoeone else to try and get proper answers

Thanks

DS is dairy and soya allergic and on Neocate. He couldn't tolerate Nutramigen, so you may want to ask your GP if you could switch.

DS soya allergy wasn't diagnosed until after his CMP allergy, but his gastro consultant said that it's very common to be allergic to both, and that it's unusual to have just one allergy.

Soya is absolutely everywhere, although you will get better at knowing what's OK and what isn't. Tesco is one of the few supermarkets that do a milk/soya free bread (own brand oat top). Genius is OK, but really expensive (£3.00 for a loaf!).

Oatly milk is good, although we tend to use Kara more now which is a coconut based milk.

There are a few decent chocolates. Booja Booja is a dairy free/soya free ice cream. Montezuma Dark is dairy and soya free.

We also get Duocal on prescription which is a supplement.

It's difficult at first, but you get into the swing of it. .

symptoms do sound like an intolerance to me.

My DD is severely intolerant to lactose (but cannot tolerate lacto free milk either ) soya & oats.

M&S do a bread which is 99p called a bakers white farmhouse loaf.

My DD is also on neocate so it may be worth getting your DS on that.

It is very common to be intolerant to soya as well as dairy although I wish I had been told that at the time as DD then developed a problem with soya after being on wysoy and having the soya yogurts
