Is this an intolerance??

DD2 is 8 mo, and for the last two weeks she has had very soft (and sometimes runny and mucasy) poo. From when I started weaning her, her poo has always been a good shape and consistancy. Her father and grandfather both have ceoliac, so I cut out gluten a week ago, but it doesn't seem to of made a difference. She also dropped two centiles (from 75th to 25th) between 6 and 20 weeks.

Does this sound like an intolerance to something? How long does it take from when you cut something out to when you can notice a difference?

My dd would get this as a baby if she had a tummy bug or was teething. Also, if you have "upped" her liquid intake over the summer as well as adding more fruit and dried fruit.
If there is a major intolerence you would notice a change very soon.

You have not said why your daughter dropped percentiles. My DD did the same and in fact in her 3rd month she only put on .5 ounce.
All the mw and hcv were baffled as she seemed to be bf ok...but it turned out she was lazy and was only getting the foremilk before just sucking for comfort.

You prob know this already but for ceoliacs to cut out gluten means that they build up an even higher intolerence to it over time. Carbs and fibre in carbs should make her stools firmer, maybe try this for a few days and see what happens.

Hope this helps and hope it is just the extra type of food she is getting.

Thats the thing, she only has fruit with breakfast and two bottles of milk, she also has a tiny bit of water (about 1-2oz) through the day, but refuses any other drinks. Her poos changed without ANY change in her diet, if anything she is having less liquid than she was a few months ago.

I don't know why she dropped centiles, the HV didn't even notice it was the GP that pointed it out. I would of thought a bug would of cleared up by now, thats why I think its something she's eating, maybe not gluten then...?
