I have a DS with a diagnosed dairy intolerance, all types of dairy, cow, sheep, goat etc. Is lactic acid a dairy product? I have been using a pesto sauce with this and just noticed the label.

Thanks!

ooh do you have a recipe this is yesterday? I have looked online but not found anything that doesn't contain parmesan!

2oz walnuts
4.5oz basil leaves
3 cloves garlic
1tsp coarse salt
4fl oz olive oil
4 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional, but is used to replace the cheese)
2 tsp lemon juice

you're supposed to toast the walnuts in the oven at 180 for 10 mins, but i normally don't bother and it's fine!

basically just whizz it all up together in a processor if you have one, if not a stick blender works ok

I don't normally weigh it all out tbh, i just guess it and it always seems to work out ok. the recipe makes quite a lot

how important are the walnuts in the recipe, thisisyesterday?? DS2 is cows milk intolerent but we've also been told to avoid nuts. I've cut out dairy too cos I'm BF but I really miss pesto ...

they do add texture.

are there nuts you can use? i have a vague recollection of someone telling me pistachios never cause allergies??? but that could be totally wrong!
or pine nuts? are they really nuts??
i think i made it with sesame seeds once btu they didn't really whizz up too well

you could maybe use something like sunflower seeds?

I might try pine nuts then, DS2 had them without problems before we were told to avoid nuts.
