When does sleeping improve?

I'm 6 days without Alcohol and I've barely been able to sleep, I'm tossing and turning and find it really hard to sleep. Then find myself awake until like 6am and getting a few hours. But I always have a nightmare during it.

When does it get back to normal?

Everyone is different, unfortunately. The good news is by 4-5 days, most of the physical effects of alcohol will have left your body. Cortisol levels (the stress hormone) will take 10 days to go back to normal, so you may feel an improvement then.

Poor sleep in the early days is common, and really irritating! Your brain is used to alcohol sending you to sleep, so doesn’t bother to produce the chemicals that normally make us sleepy at night. So you are waiting for your brain to realise that it needs to get into action.

It’s also very common to feel incredibly tired in the early days. Be kind and gentle with yourself, stay hydrated, and it will get better over time.

I found it took a good 10-14 days before I started sleeping great- I have to admit though that I do have a cbd drink every evening to help me with sleeping. If you’re not keen on that, try the magnesium drinks which work really well for sleeping keep on - it is worth it!

Worth getting some Magnesium-glycinate-3-in-1 (nutrition geek do a good, reasonably priced one) - take 2 before bed. Honestly works so well!!!
