Subconscious decision to reduce alcohol

I am a big drinker - 1-2 bottles of wine a night usually until I pass out and often don’t remember going to bed.

I am just back from a holiday where I drank a lot but since being home I don’t want to drink. It’s not a decision I have actively made, rather than my body doesn’t crave it now. In my head, I still want a glass of wine but my body doesn’t. I was worried it could be a health issue or I could be pregnant as that’s when it’s happened before - I did a test and it was negative.

i feel so much better for not drinking and even brought my first AF beers yesterday.

my question is, has this happened to anyone else and was this the permanent beginning to drinking less?

You need to use this time to replace the habit with something else. The cravings are likely to come back, and unless you're ready you'll be back where you were.

Absolutely ride this wave. It's so good for your body to give it a rest from alcohol.

Now might be the time to read or listen to the Jason Vale book on how to stop drinking. It had a huge effect on me. I didn't think it would and thought it was badly written with lots of block capitals and so on which I don't like, but I didn't drink at all for three months after reading that.

Hey, go with it. Keep experimenting with non alcoholic alternatives, and remove the alcohol from the house. If it is not actually there you are much more likely to get over any mild cravings.

Good luck! And enjoy the better sleep!

I think your body is telling you that it needs a rest from the alcohol and I think you’d be wise to listen to it.

Maybe a check up with the GP too, run some blood tests and just make sure that everything is ok, but as others have said, use this time now to go with it and do some work on why you’ve been drinking at those levels.

Really listen to what your body is telling you. It needs a complete rest from the poison you are putting down yourself.

I would suggest buying some Quit Literature to help you.
