Having an operation - what blood tests will they do pre op?

Male . Age nearly 60. Having hip replacement. Alcoholic (in denial)
Are there any increased risks of surgery?
Will routine bloods pre-surgery pick anything up?

I’ve had a handful of surgeries and they’ve never taken bloods before.

I've had several surgeries recently and they all involved a pre-op assessment which consisted of a life style questionnaire, blood tests, blood pressure readings and MRSA swabs.

I don't know whether that's just my hospital's procedure though.

I just had an orthopaedic op last week and they took blood at my pre-op assessment, and confirmed they were all ok at the phone call a week after the assessment to ensure ok to proceed with op.

Not sure exactly which were taken but think standard kidney and liver function tests.

You are asked smoking and alcohol status, weighed and BP taken, and swabbed for MRSA. I also had an ECG (as once had an issue with that).

With a hip replacement they will be extra careful with any clotting risks I imagine.
