Day 23 and I am still exhausted

Morning all:

I'm on day 23 and am still shattered! Help!

I wasn't a daily drinker, but I could put it away when I did open a bottle of wine. I decided to take a break because the hangovers were getting worse. So why do I feel so tired? Where is my improved sleep and glowing skin? I have honestly taken to my bed on an afternoon on more than one occasion becuase I've been so tired. This is not like me at all.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do to address it? B vitamins?

SR

Hi @SeasideRock you have done well to get this far. From my experience, it took 3-4 weeks so you are so close to seeing the benefits. Honestly it really is worth it.
My drinking was similar to yours and I feel so much better. I really don't miss it at all.
It takes a bit longer to see facial/weight benefits.
I did take high dose b vitamins amongst other supplements, I felt I owed this to my body. I recommend Craig Beck he recommends various supplements.

Alcohol affects some many bodily functions that it prioritises those first. You will soon be feeling better.

Your body is probably missing all that sugar that alcohol provided. That gives you a false 'lift' temporarily, so that's probably why you're tired. I'd eat some sweets, jelly babies, anything really on a regular basis until you get past this period.

It truly just takes time. I was a daily drinker, but still, when I stopped, I was exhausted for probably the first 3 months. Your body is just still adjusting. New sleep patterns, new dietary intake, different level of hydration, lots of healing and detoxing. It's hard work. It's worth sticking with it though. I was unwell the other day and took a nap and I realised it's the first nap I've had in a long time. I used to take naps all the time when I was drinking and in those early days. It was only when I did it again that I realised how different life is now that I'm not exhausted all the time anymore.

Thanks all! It’s really reassuring to hear I’m not the only one.
Day 26 now and I’ve had a lovely day. I had 3 long-standing friends over for lunch. I have drunk a LOT with them over the years. In the past this would have been a very drinky afternoon. But today I stuck to my zero alcohol drinks (I stocked up with gin, fizz and beer) and have a lovely time. They were so supportive! One of them in particular shared how she has drastically cut back in recent months. I’m so proud of myself.
Can anyone recommend some good non-alcoholic wine tho’? I wasn’t keen on the stuff today. I’ve quite enjoyed the beers I’ve tried so far, and Tanqueray orange 0% has been a revelation , but wine, not so much…
Am very tired now tho’ so think I will treat myself to an early night.
