Does anyone else find understanding the brain chemistry of addiction and recovery helpful?

As title says, really. I personally love hearing what alcohol has done to my brain, the reason for not only acute withdrawal but the longer lasting emotional difficulties - anhedonia, how the imbalance caused prevents enjoyment/reward unless alcohol is consumed etc. I find it gives me something to cling to during recovery and gives me strength.

As I am likely to have to advise people in my future role regarding addiction, I wanted to get a feel for whether it's 'just me'. For example I need to fully understand any medical complaint I have, whereas I know others just want to know basically nothing.

Yes! I find the neuroscience behind it fascinating. I’ve learned so much from watching lectures on YouTube.

I had zero education on alcohol growing up; I didn’t realise it was bad until my 20’s.
