Does quitting mess with your sleep?

So, I'm on day 10 of absolutely no alcohol, which I've only managed once before a few years ago.
But, I cant sleep! Has anyone else had this problem? I thought it might be down to there being no alcohol in my system...any ideas would be welcome.

@Username620 Have you you found the incentive of the licence making things easier or making you focus more on staying sober?
My drinking fluctuated quite a lot, sometimes I would have a beer and then stop, the worst was when I hand it "under control" which really just meant i was trying to hide how much I was drinking by binging one or two days a week which would be a bottle or two of wine (in a ahort space of time) like yourself.
I've never been able to find an alcohol free drink that gave the same satisfaction of an actual drink so I just stick to lemonade or a nice cordial.
That's definitely an achievement to stay sober when you're going through a tough patch, well done. I will have a look for that app, thank you for the suggestion.
@bamboonights I have a fitbit but have never really worn it as I don't like the feel of it on my wrist, however, I may make an exception to see what I find out about my sleep pattern! It's funny you mention about body temperature because my partner always said I was boiling at night.

@Eyesontheceiling it took me a while to stop drinking even though I had lost my licence. About 8 months after the accident. I knew I had to stop but still kept drinking silly amounts. Then I went to see my lawyer one day last August and he said that if I went to court and told them I’d stopped drinking I could maybe reduce by ban - so I said I haven’t stopped drinking so I can’t stand up in court and say that. He pointed out that I was holding up getting my licence back (it’s different here for a driving ban) and I stopped drinking there and then. I’m ashamed that I hit rock bottom to get there.
I don’t know if it has made it any easier but I am thinking of just stopping the drink altogether even when I get my licence back (at the moment I have to go for random pee tests).

I was binging every night. I got into a routine of making a cup of tea when I got home from work rather than having a wine or beer and that helped too.

I think it’s a case of just wanting to do it for yourself. As time goes on and you haven’t had a drink you will start to see the benefits and I think that also pushes one to carry on.

I’m lucky that people have been supportive of me. If I go to parties my friends have normally got something AF for me and nobody says oh just have one. It is sometimes difficult but I know I had no control before and don’t believe I could just have one drink.
