2 months sober and starting to like myself again

I've had an addiction to alcohol and cocaine for 10+ years. My addiction ripped away my happiness, my confidence and my mental health. I have a mortgage and earn £50k per year, have a loving daughter and partner, but was so fucking miserable. 2 months since I touched anything, I'm not white knuckling, and I'm started to get my life back. My anxiety and depression have reduced massively, I'm reacting to situations rationally instead of emotionally, I'm present around people, I have more money. Everything is getting better.

If anyone is interested, I'm using a programme called Break Free Support based in Liverpool (there are people on the programme nationwide and even America!) which is based on a book called rational recovery.

I could never have done this without them, they are nothing like other recovery programmes available. Yes you have to pay, but it's a hell of a lot less than I was spending on alcohol and drugs.

Just wanted to share in case there's anyone wanting to try a better approach, I wish I'd found them years ago.

Just a better approach than any others that people have tried but have not been successful for them. I know previously I tried to whitenuckle through sobriety and it was torture.

Other approaches do of course work for a lot of people and that's fantastic, I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. My post was intended for anyone who hasn't found an approach that works for them yet. 😊
