Excited but scared

Been drinking at least a bottle of wine every night for the past 4 years.
But recent life changes have made me realise that it was due to stress and I'm thinking I can start to cope without it (bad marriage recently ended )

But I'm scared my body will miss it if that makes sense ? Do I need to reduce gradually ? I don't want doctors advice or to even let them know it's been a problem because I've coped ok so far health wise i think (hope)

So is there anything i should do to help me make the transgression?
Thanks

Some people stop overnight and never drink again. But I frequently see how this approach doesn't work for many people (I coach highly functioning people to stop overdrinking).

Assuming you don't need medical intervention (ie you're not drinking to avoid tremors and stuff like that) the biggest challenge to stopping is that it's becoming a habit. But when I say habit I mean in the same way that it's a habit to clean your teeth twice a day. Or a habit to dry your hands on a towel. Habit because you really aren't aware you're doing it

So I would recommend you start by getting really conscious of when you drink and how you drink and why you drink. I have a podcast called 90 Days Later (you can find it on Apple podcasts, Spotify etc.) and recommend starting with episode 1 'why we drink' and episode 3 'desire'.

Happy to answer any questions.

@brightspice thanks for recommending your pod cast. I'm going to start today.

I've got into the habit of drinking more at home since returning to work from maternity leave and the stress of juggling it all.

I'd like to reduce my drinking to a more social/acceptable level. Twice a month if I'm out and no drinking at home.

@onelife22 If you start to make a note of when you drink, what you're doing, who you're with, etc you get to start to unpick the habit and understand how it's showing up in your life. It's powerful.
