Has anyone found Al-Anon helpful? I am considering going about my husband's drinking. Also I would like to attend a meeting near where I live, but am worried about seeing people I know, which I know is silly as they would be there for the same reason as me but I guess it would be like telling people he has a problem.

Al Anon helped me enormously. You will find others at the meeting who have gone through or are going through exactly what you are experiencing.

I've heard mixed reviews

Also I'm very anti-religion and I hear that's a part of it

12 Step programs (AA / Al-Anon) are not religious, it's about a higher power so it's a spiritual program.

The reason problem is the text was written in the 1920's so the constant reference to "god" can be quite off putting. I say this from 1st hand experience.

Al-Anon is great for support. Give it a go Flowers
