Our ‘Hilarious’ Stories

I thought a somewhat lighthearted thread might be nice. I’m finishing my sixth day alcohol-free after 25 years of drinking … & lots of hilarious stories spring to mind.

So, this thread is to tell short stories we have told as funny about our drinking (But not in the teens or college/uni years though please as everyone did crazy stuff then). However, now that we don’t drink anymore or as much, we can see they weren’t really all that hilarious!

i’ll start off with this little one:

i was about 26 … so well passed the crazy drunken college years - giving myself a pass on those!) … I was living in a shared house with 2 others. One evening they went for a walk at around 6pm and I stayed at home and had a large glass of wine with dinner. Then I lay on the couch with another large glass which I drank. Then I fell asleep. When they got home, I woke up slurry and drunk. we laughed about how hilarious it was that I had managed to get drunk and pass out in the time it took them to go on a one hour walk.

Well done for being alcohol free for a few days op, it's probably a good idea to list the triggers which might set you back?

Unfortunately alcoholics exhibit the most terrifyingly selfish behaviour with total disregard to the thoughts and feelings of those people who are negatively impacted, so what might appear as hilarious to you might have caused dreadful inconvenience and upset to the people around you.

However they might be too polite and considerate to you to tell you the truth.

Believe me, being around alcoholics is embarrassing, scary and toxic especially for children.

@Vijia

im sorry , I think you’ve misinterpreted me. I’m not an alcoholic but I have decided to quit before it gets any worse as I was starting to get more dependent. I don’t think anyone else thinks I have a problem.

I have never once been accused of causing ‘dreadful inconvenience and upset to the people around‘ me and I’m sorry if someone put you through that.

in fact, I had to clean up my exh’s vomit and drive him to work after binges so I’ve been on that side of it myself.

Maybe this thread wasn’t such a great idea. Peace
