Been keeping tabs on DH drinking recently and this week alone, nothing special on, average week, hes drank 65 units. I know the weekly limit is 14. Should i be worried about this? I think its too much personally. I dont drink really. Hes had one day off alcohol this week. Some days its been a glass of wine (2.5 units), others its been 4 beers (11.6), last Saturday it was 9 beers (20.6 units). Hes 40s so not young. When i try to talk about it, its complete denial. If i point out hes drank everyday bar one, he will argue he had more than that alcohol free. He says im a nag and gets angry if i try to discuss it. Says he will cut down but doesnt last long. Is he a problem drinker/alcoholic? He thinks because he is not sat on a park bench swigging spirits, hes fine. He works etc

Yes he is a problem drinker. The fact he is defensive, argues he drinks lots alcohol free and gets angry with you shows how much of a problem he has.

The fact that he has been drinking more than a months allowance in a week could cause him problems down the line. That said, if a drinker doesn’t want to cut down or stop, you can’t make them. I have alcoholics in my family, it’s hard to see people you love destroy themselves drink by drink Flowers

Drinking a large amount of alcohol, even for just a few days, can lead to a build-up of fats in the liver
This is called alcoholic fatty liver disease, and is the first stage of ARLD.
