NOt really, I mean you could look at that another way, that a clear majority support adoption by single people and gay couples? And this will be Joe Bloggs who has probably never given a second thought about children in care and has no real knowledge or understanding of the issues.
I think in that context its fairly encouraging.

I suppose thats true.

I'm basing my lack of surprise on the number of people (though not a majority to be fair) who were vaguely disapproving of me being allowed to adopt single.

Yes, but you forgot to mention that 38% of men are absolute TITS!

I'm quite sure if I knew nothing about the care system I would think the same thing - if your thinking went so far as 'each child deserves 2 people looking after them' and it stopped there then I think that's pretty normal. You can easily think this and be coming from a mindset where you want 'the best' for the child.

It's only when you engage your brain or work in the system do you realise that there are so many children without good role models/carers that one is better than none.

Notreallycutoutforthis - I suspect it is actually much higher, but didn't want to appear too anti-man. They do have their uses after all.....

It doesn't surprise me. But I bet that figure's much lower than it would have been ten or fifteen years ago.

" Shoudl single men/women/gay couples being allowed to adopt a white healthy baby on equal terms with married couples"

you think they are being asked

" should single men/women/gay couples be allowed to adopt the children that married couples don't want and who will otherwise spend all their lives in care?"
