Should I try harder?

My mum had a baby in 1966. She was adopted at birth.
I learnt about her existence when I was 19 but mum was adamant that she couldn't cope with idea of trying to find her (too painful and guilty).
I registered my hope to find her in 2022 (after our mum died) with the very little information I had.. but I don't really know how, if at all, its possible to go further..

Hi. You could always do an Ancestry test. Though she may not be interested in connecting.

@SereneGoose

Try this

Your question was though SHOULD you try harder.
Thats really only a question you can decide.
You might want to consider though what you hope to gain from it and that you may have different expectations from your sister.

You may just want to satisfy curiosity, you may be seeking an on going relationship or something in between. There is no right answer , but your adopted sibling might want more or less from it that you do.
Its a diffucult thing, with lots of complex emotions. Id recommend some counselling before pursuing it, which I think Pac can help with.
Good luck

Thank you so much for this and my apologies for taking so long to respond. Very thoughtful and helpful things for me to ponder...
