Moral Dilemma re Pupil premium

AD gets PP due to being adopted. In KS1 school paid for her trips but in Y2 they realised it wasn’t down to financial hardship and stopped subsiding us for that kind of thing.
I have a feeling the money now goes on helping to fund her 1:1 support and the occasional small group extra learning type stuff.
Next Summer there is a residential trip and we have had a PP letter from school saying we don’t have to pay ‘because your child has free school meals and is on PP’. Obviously we are on the list but this isn’t the reason. The letter says if anyone’s circumstances have changed they would be grateful to have a donation toward the full cost.
I don’t know whether to send it back signed and accept they are using it for her enrichment (hooray) or to offer to pay some or all of the full amount given we are not on free school meals. I am worried the SENCO might find out and be cross as she has it earmarked for other things. It feels as though it is a mistake but as I said, when she was younger they did pay for trips.
My Scrooge-like heart wants to accept the freebie and my head says pay up!

Just ask? Sometimes school say to us "don't pay, it's covered by PP!" Or "take the perk!" Other times they say "oh, whoops, not for you."

I wish PP+ was called something different, and treated separately to PP, as the needs are often completely different.

There really aren't separate pots of money in this way so I wouldn't worry about that.
However, since most schools are desperately over stretched and scrabbling around for money I would pay what you could afford for the trip.

I’m in a similar position although DD’s PP has never been spent on her, she’s literally had nothing at all from it and any queries from us about how it could help her have been brushed aside. We recently got a letter about music lessons with a box to tick if your child got PP. I ticked it but she hasn’t been chosen for music lessons so no idea what they are spending it on. I would say to go for it but be prepared to pay if need be.

We were in the fortunate position of not needing the free places so we always paid, but did however take up 'priority' places for some clubs as those did benefit the DC.
Pay what you feel is affordable to you.

I asked on the form if they were intentionally using her PP+ for ‘learning enrichment’ ie the trip or if we were on the list by mistake. Not heard back yet as teacher off sick. So I have indicated we will pay if this was unintentional.
