Hi all ,

Me and my husband are considering adoption after a few years of IVF.

We have been doing research and we know we have to pass a medical.

I want to prepare myself for this so just wondered what it actually involves .
is it just things like height and weight as some people have said it involves bloods, Breast examinations, eye check, mouth and ears checks .

I just want to be prepared for when I go for the medical .

thank you

My GP did my height and weight and then a lifestyle questionnaire. I don’t have any medical conditions but they did a medical history. No breast, eye, mouth or ear checks!

The same as Brunoandthebigfoot but had blood pressure done and my remaining breast examined (previous breast cancer). Quite a doddle, good luck!

There were no bloods but height, weight, blood pressure, urine test, breast exam (but doc took my word for it that I check my own), chest, heart, ears, eyes, mouth, tummy prodding and many questions about medical history and lifestyle. It’s pages long as I recall. I think it depends on how through your GP wants to be. My husbands one was a lot more slap dash than mine was.

Good luck with the process. I found it not too evasive.

Mini was similar to @GracieHC 's: height, weight, blood pressure, but no urine test, breast exam done by the GP, chest, heart, ears, etc. and questions about medical history and lifestyle. I took about an hour. My husband's also took an hour.

It depends on your medical history.
My husbands was easy! GP did height, weight, lifestyle questions and was done in 10 minutes, no issues.

I have a chronic illness and had a shit GP and mine was horrific. Very invasive, very horrible. However, I had the backing of a wonderful consultant who wrote an amazing letter for me.

We are 2 years post our wonderful boy (now 4!) coming home so despite the awfulness of it, it still all went well.
